Seems like just yesterday, Yahoo launched OMG! to compete w/ TMZ. They had a heavy marketing campaign and the advantage of having the #1 visited parent site on the internet (yahoo.com).
Today the site boasts over 8 million unique hits a month. That places them second behind TMZ.com and just ahead of People magazine’s website (cite: wikipedia.org).
Yahoo! Launches OMG! today, a celebrity gossip website. The homepage unsurprisingly features Paris Hilton crying on her way to jail. Yahoo! Entertainment, NBC
’s Access Hollywood, and x17 is providing some of the content for the website.
